here are some photos of the SDR 3000 making breakfast for hOodville one sunny morning!

egg!

greg made a spiral of wire to hold an egg. then he cooked it on the SDR 3000. amazingly enough, it didn't explode like we thought it might. instead it actually cooked to about 'soft boiled' stage. YUM!!! this would work better if the egg was painted black. greg used a brown egg, but it was still so light colored that it reflected much of the solar radiation: you can see the egg looks blindingly white in the photo above.

and, of course, we had to have toast to go with our egg!

in the above photo, rick is making whole wheat toast!

it was a little difficult to get the toasting even, as you might imagine. this gives you a good idea of how the SDR 3000 takes the power of the sun and concentrates it into a small area! also notice rick's nifty toast holder wire!

rick made toast for all of hOodville. here are erik and greg enjoying some toast and jam. what a lovely morning it was!
