Since Danielle will be 5 months pregnant during this year's Burn (woohoo!), it will be more important than ever to prevent heat stress. For those hot afternoons when shade alone isn't cool enough, we're adding some active cooling. We built a 12V evaporative cooler which will be powered by our solar+battery system... we call it the Solar Cooler. Most parts were scavenged but we did purchase a fan, pump, evaporative pad meant for a home-sized unit (cut into several mini-pads) and some nuts and bolts. Grand total: a little over $60 and several enjoyable and educational weekend days. Here is the story of the Solar Cooler...
